Since 1876, Chantelle has embodied a singular vision of French lingerie. A vision where technical mastery never compromises elegance, where comfort meets style and where each piece is designed to accompany women every day with ease and remarkable precision.
As the Maison celebrates its 150th anniversary, it marks far more than a milestone. For you, Glamuse takes you behind the scenes of a story where lingerie evolves with the body, movement and desires, while remaining faithful to its founding ambition.

Origins: When Lingerie Began to Adapt to the Body
At the end of the 19th century, François Auguste Gamichon arrived in Paris and founded the company that would later become Chantelle. At that time, women’s silhouettes were still tightly structured by corsetry, designed to shape and enhance the figure.
From the very beginning, the brand stood out by working with a material that was still little used: elastic knit. What may have seemed like a subtle choice at first actually marked a profound shift. Over the decades, this intuition evolved into true expertise. The introduction of technical fabrics such as Kretz tulle made it possible to lighten constructions and follow movement with greater precision. This entirely new stretch fabric would later lead to the development of Chantelle’s girdles.

From Structure to Invisibility: The Birth of Modern Lingerie
When Chantelle officially adopted its name in 1949, the world had changed. Women had changed too. Their lives were accelerating, their needs evolving, their relationship with clothing transforming. Lingerie was now expected to meet a new standard: to support the body while remaining invisible.
This vision found a decisive answer in 1972, when the Maison launched “Défi”, the first seamless molded bra. Behind this innovation lay a quiet revolution. Lingerie became invisible under clothing while providing flawless support.

This technical achievement redefined industry standards and paved the way for a new generation of pieces conceived as a second skin, echoing its invisible lingerie collections.
What stands out in Chantelle’s history is its ability to evolve without ever losing its identity. The Maison does not follow trends: it interprets them through the lens of the body and comfort.
In the 1950s, it supported structured and elegant silhouettes. Decades later, it became part of a movement toward liberation, lightening forms and prioritizing sensation. Today, it returns to an essential principle: creating lingerie that is discreet, refined and comfortable, designed to support and enhance without ever restricting.
150 Years of Heritage, Always in Motion
Celebrating 150 years is not about looking back with nostalgia. It is about revisiting a legacy to move forward. By highlighting the silhouettes that have defined each era, Chantelle reminds us that lingerie is intimately connected to the evolution of the body and society. They evolve, adapt and reinvent themselves.

Chantelle Expertise: Invisible Precision
Behind the apparent simplicity of Chantelle pieces lies an exceptional level of craftsmanship. Each design is conceived as a subtle architecture where every element plays a vital role.
The curve of the cup, the tension of the fabrics, the placement of the straps and the refinement of the finishes come together to create a delicate balance between support and lightness. Nothing is left to chance: every detail is designed to follow the body with precision.
This heritage, rooted in the great French corsetry tradition, gives the Maison its exceptional mastery and explains the unique sensation sought by so many women: lingerie that supports without constraining, that moves with the body while remaining almost imperceptible.
A Contemporary Vision, Between Inclusivity and Realism
Today, Chantelle embraces a modern approach to lingerie. Moving beyond fixed ideals, the brand speaks to all women, in their diversity and reality.
Its collections reflect this openness: adaptive cuts, evolving fabrics, and a wide range of silhouettes. Lingerie becomes a space of freedom where every woman can find a piece that truly fits her.
