Technology and respect, from raw materials to quality control

Wool and silk are the indisputable hallmarks of Oscalito clothing and homewear, as are Leavers lace and tubular knitwear.

Whether they are exclusively natural or the result of sophisticated and noble blends, the fibres that make up the fabrics are treated exclusively with respect for the environment. The entire production chain is not left out…

A closer look at the different stages of handmade production

First of all, weaving is carried out exclusively on traditional circular machines at a slow pace, to ensure quality. This process gives the yarn the right balance between softness and elasticity. As for cutting, certain raw materials require special attention. That’s why they are meticulously cut by hand.

The sewing is then divided up according to the type of machine used, the qualifications of the operators and the colour. Each piece is carefully entrusted to the hands of quality control. They check that the fabric is even and that the seams are correct. Once ironed and labelled, the garments can be packed and prepared for shipping.

Oscalito: certified authenticity, ultimate sophistication and exceptional quality

As a testament to this heritage and know-how, Oscalito has adopted RFID technology. This enable seach item to be traced from the label throughout the production chain.

At the heart of a historic Italian fashion house

The syllables of the word « Oscalito » alone encapsulate the name, the place and the history of the brand: brothers Osvaldo and Lino Casalini founded the brand in Turin in 1936, having specialised in the production of cotton and wool fabrics a few years earlier.

With their talent at the service of their passion, Osvaldo and Lino launched their first lines of fine lingerie and ready-to-wear, made from 100% Italian fabrics of the highest quality.

Following the Second World War, the damage caused by the bombings did not dampen the enthusiasm of the two brothers. Anxious to perpetuate their know-how, they managed to salvage the knitting machines that had been saved from destruction. They set them up in a brand new workshop on the banks of the Turin river. Production resumed with renewed energy and creative inspiration.

In 1946, the brand celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Inimitable inter-generational craftsmanship

At the end of the 1950s, Andrea – Lino’s son – developed a passion for textiles. He decided to study in the United Kingdom to perfect his skills and learn new techniques. As soon as he returned to his hometown of Turin, the young graduate began working on the textile machines in the family workshopHe began to expand the Oscalito range, using new yarns and creating models with innovative cuts and materials.

This new, creative and consistent approach attracted a great deal of attention beyond Italy’s borders. The United States, in particular, was particularly keen on new textiles from Europe. Oscalito saw its orders, production and reputation grow.

Export: a priority area of development for Oscalito

In 1975, with the arrival of Arrigo Casalini in the company, Oscalito embarked on years of creative impetus and constant development. Alongside all these changes, Oscalito’s core product range shifted towards women’s fashion, with fine lingerie and homewear.

The third Casalini generation joined the company in 2014 with Dario. He gradually took over the reins of the company. His objectives? Continuous renewal of the product range, international expansion and consistent manufacturing quality that has seduced women around the world for over 80 years.
