The power of blue in lingerie

2024 has its share of novelties, but one trend has endured for many seasons now: blue is everywhere.

From indigo to turquoise, blue offers a vast, luminous palette that suits every woman. At once sensual, soothing and profound, this colour with its many virtues is a natural and constant presence in the world of luxury lingerie.

Chromotherapy and its positive effects teach us that colours are intimately linked to our moods. Whether calming or energising, we know that certain colours have a positive influence on our emotions. According to traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, they even have an impact on our health.

To soothe, harmonise and rebalance both body and mind, bringing colour back into our daily lives and into our wardrobes is essential if we are to embrace our femininity with as much tenderness as strength.

Blue: zooming in on a variety of rich, complex shades

When we think of blue, we immediately think of the sky and the sea. We associate it with a sense of freedom and confidence. So it’s hardly surprising that it’s a fashion favourite…

As wise as it can be mysterious, it enhances all complexions. A so-called ‘cold’ colour (as opposed to the other two primary colours, red and yellow, which are considered warm), blue nevertheless has many properties. Depending on its shade, it can be comforting or energising.

Opting for blue in lingerie means feeling good about yourself and your mind. It’s the perfect way to combat the prevailing gloom! There are countless shades of blue. Some tones lean towards violet, others more towards green. Some come in pastel shades, others are frankly vivid. The variations are endless. The lingerie photos speak for themselves.

A brief history of blue

Did you know? For a long time, blue was disliked. During Antiquity, it was not really considered a colour, and was even the object of genuine disinterest. A symbol of misfortune, since the end of the 12th century blue has become the attribute of all positive values. It was everywhere.

For the new Christian theology, God is light. Bright colours were sought, and luminous blues were produced, something that had never been done before. And the Virgin? Her cloak was dark, a sign of mourning. Here it is light, light blue.

This is how Mary, a leading religious figure, promoted this new colour, which quickly spread to all areas of artistic creation.

Since 1914, without exception, all opinion polls in Europe and the United States have unanimously quoted +blue as their favourite colour (followed by green, then white and red).

What is Blue Monday?

Blue Monday is inspired by the English expression « to feel blue », which translates as « to be depressed ». For the past fifteen years or so, it has been making a comeback on social networks and in the media every January.

Indicators of the most depressing day of the year

This Monday is said to be the point at which a number of factors converge:

  • the start of the week (Monday)
  • the month’s salary, which has yet to fall
  • freezing weather and long nights with no end in sight
  • the post-holiday period
  • the end of good resolutions
  • and so on

Of course, as you may have guessed, there’ s absolutely nothing scientific about this formula. But although it was completely invented by a British advertising campaign (for the Sky Travel television channel in 2005), this story does remind us that it’s important to be aware of any dips in our mood.

Which is why January can be the perfect time to remember just how important it is to listen to your emotions and take care of yourself.
